Donegal's Patrick McBrearty in action against Armagh
Donegal forward Paddy McBrearty has been named the GAA.ie Footballer of the Week following an impressive display in his side's victory over Armagh on Sunday.
McBrearty, who was instrumental in Donegal's triumph, received a staggering 4,742 votes on the GAA’s Official Instagram page, securing the top spot in the poll. The Kilcar forward’s performance was crucial in his team's success as they edged out Armagh in Ballybofey.
McBrearty’s closest rivals for the honour were Cork's Chris Óg Jones and Dublin's Seán Bugler. Jones impressed with a sensational 3-4 in Cork's Division Two win over Westmeath, while Bugler was a key figure in Dublin's dramatic comeback against Kerry at Austin Stack Park.

However, it was McBrearty who claimed the title this week, with his scoring and overall contribution to the win against Armagh firmly capturing the public's attention. His performance continues to underline his importance to Donegal, especially with the return of the legendary Michael Murphy, who also played a significant role in the victory.
This comes one week after McBrearty's Kilcar clubmate Ryan McHugh was named GAA.ie Footballer of the Week following his exceptional performance for Donegal in their Allianz Football League Division 1 victory over Kerry at Fitzgerald Stadium.
