GAA President Jarlath Burns took a moment to enjoy time at McBrew, the popular café owned by Donegal footballer Ryan McHugh, ahead of the GAA Annual Congress commencing this weekend at the Abbey Hotel in Donegal Town.

During his visit, Burns met with McHugh and fellow Donegal player Peadar Mogan, engaging in light-hearted conversation before the weekend's formal proceedings.

The Annual Congress, set to take place on Friday and Saturday at the Abbey Hotel, will see hundreds of delegates from across Ireland and beyond gather to discuss and vote on 40 proposed motions.

Key topics on the agenda include a potential revamp of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, which could replace the current round-robin system with a qualifier-style format, ensuring each county plays at least three championship games.

Another significant motion proposes allowing GAA club facilities to be utilised by other sports and community groups, reflecting the association's commitment to community engagement.

This marks only the third time in the association's history that the Annual Congress has been held in Donegal, with previous events in 1975 and 1988.

The local community, including establishments like McBrew, has warmly welcomed attendees, showcasing the region's hospitality and strong GAA spirit.
