Donegal minor ladies boss Declan McDermott
Declan McDermott and the Donegal minor ladies get their Championship campaign going with a home clash with Derry this afternoon in Killybegs.
Ahead of the 2pm throw-in at Eamon Byrne Memorial Park, the boss says he trawled the net far and wide to make sure he has the best possible squad available to him this term.
“We started the process of looking at players before Christmas. We got down to a final 30 and we’re very happy.
“We’ve got through some great work in both challenge games and training. We played Tyrone and Sligo and last weekend we also played Mayo and Kerry.
“The squad has really bonded well with over 20 clubs across the county represented. We really can’t wait to get started against Derry.
“We know it’s a massive challenge but home advantage in Killybegs, we’re excited about a good crowd coming out and cheering the girls on.
“We have one or two concerns in the lead-in but hopefully, come Saturday, we have a full squad to choose from”.
Donegal are then away to Cavan next weekend while the following Saturday it’s home to Tyrone and, after a fortnight’s break, it’s another away clash with Fermanagh in their final group section outing.
