Naomh Pádraig Uisce Chaoin made a winning return to action just 10 weeks on from their All-Ireland junior club final defeat in Croke Park when they had six points to spare away to St Mary's Convoy in Division 2.

Convoy, who were promoted from Division 3 last season, turned in a strong first half and with John Doherty hitting the game’s only goal they led by 1-4 to 0-5 at half time.

But with county man Caolan McColgan available for selection and contributing six points, Naomh Pádraig found their groove in the second half. Bryan McNamee and Niall Sweeney both hit two-pointers for Convoy, but with Kevin Doherty accurate from frees and debutants Cillian Doyle and Jamie McCauley hitting a point apiece Naomh Pádraig ran out comfortable winners to get their league season off to a winning start.

Having lost their opening game to Glenfin a week earlier, Convoy go on search of their first win when they host St Naul’s on the Easter weekend.
