Oisin Marley finished Setanta's SHL clash with Carndonagh with 1-9 to his name
Setanta came away with a hard-fought 2-15 to 0-6 victory over Carndonagh in Foden in the Donegal SHL on Friday.
Even though Setanta ran out impressive winners, the youthful home team kept them close for long periods of the game and battled hard throughout.
It was very even for most of the first half with Michael McCarron for Carndonagh opening the scoring from distance before Setanta got some good scores from Bernard Lafferty and Oisin Marley had the away side ahead 0-3 to 0-1 after 15 minutes.
Liam Doherty scored a free from distance and Marley did the same, to leave the game at 0-4 to 0-2. And when Setanta scored the next two points from Pauric Moss and a Marley free, it looked like Carn would struggle to stay in the game.

Two Darragh McCormick scores brought them right back in the game. However, Setanta struck for the last two scores of the half from a Conor McGettigan point and a well taken goal from the in-form Marley who flicked the sliotar to the net to leave the half-time score at 1-7 to 0-4 for Setanta.
Carn, playing down the hill, would have hoped for a quick start to the second half, but Setanta came out more determined and rattled off four points without reply, with Lafferty, Marley and McLaughlin again the scorers.
Darragh McCormick settled things for Carn with a point but Bernard Lafferty and Marley pointed in response.
Lafferty hit another point from play and Marley pointed a free and Jack Hilliard added on another point from play. Liam Doherty pointed for Carn, but the inevitable Marley responded in kind. But the game was well sealed when Pauric Moss goaled for Setanta. That left Setanta leading by 2-12 to 0-5. Marley, 0-2, and Lafferty closed out the scoring, and Liam Dohery replied with a point for Carn.
