Four Masters 4-19

Glenfin 1-11

Just two points adrift at the break, Glenfin had no answer to the power play of a youthful Four Masters side in the second half of this Division 1 encounter at Tirconaill Park.

A penalty won by veteran Gerard Ward on the stroke of half-time was powered to the net by his cousin Shaun but that was as good as it got for the Glenfin men.

Frank McGlynn’s charges matched Four Masters in the opening 10 minutes and led by 0-3 to 0-2 with Odhran O’Connor (2) and Shaun Ward on the mark while Killian Faulkner (free) and Conor Reid (45) had the Four Masters scores.

Oisin Doherty was denied a goal but then levelled matters before Alex McCalmont fired home the opening goal. An Aaron McGlynn two  pointer kept Glenfin in touch but the impressive Cian Gavigan, Dylan Kennedy, McCalmont with two and Tiarnan McBride pushed Four Masters clear.

Daniel Marley and Shaun Ward frees kept Glenfin in touch before the Ward penalty left it 1-9 to 1-7 at the break.

Tiarnan McBride set the tone for the second half with his second left footed point on 20 seconds. Gerard Ward replied but McCalmont and Gavigan pushed the lead out to four. A Shaun Ward free cut the lead but McCalmont, Oisin Doherty (free) and Jamie Crawford pointed for the home side.

Aaron McGlynn was almost in for a goal before Odhran McGlynn had what proved to be Glenfin’s last score on the 40th minute.

From there to the finish it was a romp for the home side with Oisin Doherty making a great catch and point before he set up McCalmont for his second goal on 45 minutes.

Doherty added another point before Patrick Reid won a penalty, blasted home by Conor Reid. Jamie Crawford came forward to add a fourth goal while substitute Emmett Doogan helped himself to a brace of points.
