A storming second-half saw Sean MacCumhaills pull clear of St Eunan’s to lift the Northern Board Under-17 Division 1 League title on Friday night.

St. Eunan’s 2-6

The Twin Towners kept St Eunan’s to a solitary second-half score - that coming via a Bryan Drum penalty

Daithi McMahon’s five first-half points played a pivotal part in the home side going in three points up at half time with Cathal Cannon bagging the goal.

MacCumhaills had 1-2 on the board, before St. Eunans replied.

MacCumhaills hit five in a row to move eight clear only for Shane Ellison, Drum (2) and Luca Barrett to reduce the deficit.

Five minutes from the break the visitors had cause to go in at half time on a more positive note when Ruairi Kavanagh’s direct run on the home side’s goal resulted in a green flag being raised taking the difference down to three.

MacCumhaills started the second half in the same vein of form as they ended the first and added two quick scores.

St. Eunans got back to within two points when Drum fired home a penalty.

Any hopes of a comeback were quashed as MacCumhaills hit nine scores without reply, with Conor McGinty landing 1-5 in part two.

Seán MacCumhaills scorers: Conor McGinty (1f) 1-6;  Daithi McMahon (0-2f) 0-6; Cathal Cannon 1-1; Sean Martin, Fionn McNulty 0-2; Kyle Rutledge, Barrie McGhee 0-1.
