Naomh Conaill need extra-time to reach Comortas Peil na Gaeltachta final in Leitir Mór

Naomh Conaill rode their luck at the end of normal time but they powered their way to the final of the Comórtas Peil na Gaeltacha at the semi-final stage in Leitir Mór on Sunday evening.

In a very entertaining first half of the senior semi-final Naomh Conaill were all square with hosts Naomh Eanna, Leitir Mór at the break at 2-5 each.

Ciaran Brennan had a goal early and late in the half as Naomh Eanna really put it up to the Donegal champions.

The Naomh Conaill points came from Eunan Doherty and Charles McGuinness with two each and one from Ciaran Brennan.

However, in the second half despite getting a goal within 90 seconds, the scores dried up for the Donegal representatives. The goal came from another high ball from Hughie Gallagher which went all the way to the net.

Dermot Molloy, who missed quite a few opportunities, had a point from a free but Naomh Eanna hit four points in a row to take the lead in the 58th minute. Just when it looked they were out, the won a free for Charlie McGuinness to send the game to extra-time.

In the first period of extra-time two frees from Charlie McGuinness and Dermot Molloy along was followed by points from  play by Anthony Thompson and McGuinness to  put them four points up at the end of the first period of extra-time.

Naomh Eanna pulled a point back but Seamus Corcoran cancelled that point. A Naomh Eanna free cut the lead to three and they had a great goal chance but Stephen McGrath made a game-saving save as they just held on.
