Gaoth Dobhair showed their metal to win out against Four Masters in the County U-15 Division 1 League final in Convoy.

Gaoth Dobhair 2-10
Four Masters 0-8

The side from Magheragallon were certainly helped along the way by the showing of Padraig Mac Giolla Bhride at midfield, who scored 1-4 before the second goal late on from Colm Ó Dochartaigh sealed the deal.

Gaoth Dobhair led 0-5 to 0-3 at the break at the Donegal Training Centre, with four different scorers - Cathal Ó Gallachóir twice from frees, joined by John P Ó Gallachóir, Dallan Ó Baoill and Mac Giolla Bhride.

Masters took a bit to get going, although were still well within the game, following settlers from a couple of frees from Conor McCahill and Tomas Carr. Late in the half, substitute Zach Campbell hit a rasping shot, which had goal written all over it, only for a terrific saving block from Alan Ó Dochartaigh, the Gaoth Dobhair full-back.

In the second half, Mac Giolla Bhride’s three scores kept Masters at arm’s length and by the 50th minute, Gaoth Dobhair were 0-8 to 0-6 to the good with Josh Cullen and Oisin Gallagher keeping the team from Donegal Town in touch.

That lead might’ve been more, as in the 44th minute, Lewis McCaughan in the Four Masters goal made a top-class save from an Ó Dochartaigh penalty, which was sweetly struck low to the goalkeeper’s right.

Patience proved the virtue for Gaoth Dobhair though, as Padraig Mac Giolla Bhride drove from centre-field to smash a goal past McCaughan on 48 minutes to put his side five in front. Throwing caution to the wind, Four Masters pressed only to get caught on the break in the last minute when Ó Dochartaigh finished with aplomb to send the trophy west, with Daniel McGinty from Four Masters shown a red card by referee Connie Doherty after the final whistle.
