Water breaks are set to return this weekend in the various Donegal GAA championships.
With temperatures set to reach as high as 26 celsius, the Donegal Competitions Control Committee have opted to reintroduce water beaks, which were a fact of matches during the pandemic.
Only a designated water carrier can enter the field of play for a maximum of three minutes when the match referee gives the go-ahead while management, all other backroom team members and substitutes must remain in their dugout or technical area during this time. The referee may issue a red card to any other person who enters the field of play and players cannot go to the sidelines.
The water break is, for the minute, only a regulation for this weekend’s fixtures and will be reviewed thereafter, with two Donegal IFC games down for decision this evening, Friday, as Termon welcome Naomh Muire and Naomh Columba are at home to St Mary’s Convoy. The Donegal SFC gets underway tomorrow with Four Masters playing host to Cloughaneely.
