An unbelievable Oisin Gallen goal set MacCumhaill’s on their way to victory over Four Masters in the Donegal SFC.

Four Masters 0-10

Twenty minutes in, with MacCumhaill’s enjoying a 0-5 to 0-3 lead against Kevin Sinclair’s game side, Gallen got the ball just inside the visitors’ 45 and off he went, slaloming his way through a series of challenges before slotting into the bottom corner.

The team from the Twin Towns had drawn at St Michael’s last weekend and Four Masters and Cloughaneely ended all square.
Alongside Joel Bradley Walsh and Kevin McCormack, MacCumhaill’s have a forward line that would be the envy of any side in the county. All three combined to score MacCumhaill’s first half total in their 1-7 to 0-5 lead.

In an open game on a fine evening, there was a decent crowd on a Sunday evening, although both teams were in the shop window with the draw for round three having already been made prior to throw-in.

Four Masters contributed plenty in the first half, with Jamie Crawford impressing from the off and he put over three first half points at the Town End. At the other end, Bradley Walsh put over four first half points, with McCormack also getting in on the act.

Killian Faulkner, with his second free, pulled one back for Masters at the start of the second half, only for Gavin Gallagher to put MacCumhaill’s five up again. Masters were out of luck when Alex McCalmont smacked the crossbar on 34 minutes and Jason Duignan smashed the rebound wide.

Daire Quinn joined the attack to score for Masters, which left them still five behind, 1-10 to 0-8, on 45 minutes. Gallen, who slung over from distance and Steven O’Reilly joined the top table to score with Gallagher getting forward to score a second.
MacCumhaill’s knew they’d get over the line with a bit to spare so long as Eoin Gallen kept his sheet clean and the net minder didn’t have much to do with a diligent defence in front of him.
