Donegal IFC quarter-final pairings confirmed as first round draws to an end

Downings and Naomh Columba both learned the Donegal IFC knock-out opponents after the fourth round of fixtures

The make-up of the Donegal IFC quarter-finals is now known following tonight’s last series of first round matches.
Dungloe’s win over Naomh Muire means that Dessie Gallagher's side are the only one of the 12 teams to have won all four of their outings.

Tonight they defeated Naomh Muire on a scoreline of 2-7 to 0-7 and Danny O’Donnell’s side, who finished on three points, are the eighth-placed of the eight qualifiers, so that means the sides will meet again in the quarter-finals.

Overall, Termon finished in second place with three wins and a draw and they were 0-15 to 2-4 victors over a whitewashed Malin team. Termon will play seventh placed Red Hughs, who reached the knock-outs thanks to a 0-12 to 0-9 win over St Mary’s Convoy.

Downings’ third win - 5-12 to 2-9 against Naomh Bríd - means they finished off in third. Naomh Columba overcame Buncrana 2-16 to 1-13, which is a result that leaves the two sides on six points along with Downings. However, on score difference, Downings are the better of the three, so finish the series third overall and that means a last eight tie with Gaeil Fhánada. The Portsalon-based club were 2-9 to 0-8 winners over Burt. So, fourth-placed Naomh Columba will now play Buncrana.

All of the quarter-finals will take place on the weekend of September 10 and 11 at neutral venues.
