Termon remain unbeaten following win over Malin in IFC

Termon confirmed a date with Red Hughs in the IFC quarter-finals with a five-point win over Malin at the Burn Road, on Saturday evening.

Termon 0-15
Malin  2-4

It was their third win on the trot following their opening day draw with Gaeil Fhánada in Portsalon.  Ryan McFadden turned in another five star performance in the middle of the field and capped that performance with six points and was the home team’s top scorer.

Termon dominated the early exchanges and led 0-7 to 0-1 after 25 minutes. But a Terence Doherty goal followed by a Christy McLaughlin score for Malin meant it was just a two-point game at half-time. Termon led 0-7 to 1-2 at the break.

Termon piled on the points again on the resumption and had extended their lead out eight points before Christy McLaughlin scored Malin’s first point of the second period.  A second Terence Doherty goal five minutes from the end reduced the margin to three but the locals were not going to be caught and they closed out the game with late points.

So it is a quarter final meeting with Red Hughs for Termon while it is the relegation playoff for whitewashed Malin, who began the championship race as one of the favourites .
