After the third round of games in the Michael Murphy Sports & Leisure Donegal SFC, the picture is becoming clearer as to who will contest the quarter-finals.
All the top teams won again over the weekend with the five teams with zero points all losing again. As it stands at the moment Kilcar, St Eunan's, Gaoth Dobhair and Aodh Ruadh are definitely in the quarter-finals with full points.
Naomh Conaill and Glenswilly are 99% assured of their places also on five points while the remaining two places will be filled by either Killybegs (four points), St Michael's, Four Masters and MacCumhaill's (all on three points).
The draw for the final round of games threw up one stand out fixture - the meeting of Naomh Conaill and Gaoth Dobhair - but quite a few of the other draws could be regarded as lopsided affairs.
The meeting of Naomh Conaill and Gaoth Dobhair will bring back memories of their 2019 final which went to three games with Naomh Conaill prevailing by a point in the second replay.
The full draw for round four reads: Sean MacCumhaill's v St Eunan's; Bundoran v Kilcar; St Naul's v St Michael's; Milford v Aodh Ruadh; Ardara v Glenswilly; Glenfin v Four Masters; Naomh Conaill v Gaoth Dobhair; Cloughaneely v Killybegs The five bottom teams - Milford, St Nauls, Ardara, Bundoran and Glenfin - all come from pot two, so have home games in the final round, and apart from Glenfin, face teams who are looking certain for a top eight place.
Glenfin are at home to Four Masters and will fancy their chances of getting a result and survive the relegation battle.
However, amazingly, it is possible that Glenfin could lose and still avoid the relegation battle with zero points, such is the difference in score difference between the teams. It seems odds on that the top two - Kilcar and St Eunan's - will remain the same after the fourth round of matches, while the big clash of Naomh Conaill and Gaoth Dobhair will have a major bearing on the other placings.
Aodh Ruadh should finish third if they win in Milford, should Naomh Conaill defeat Gaoth Dobhair in Davy Brennan Park. No doubt the calculators will be out once more around 4:30pm on Sunday, as has been the case for the last few years. According to form the prediction is as follows:
The top eight in order should be - Kilcar, St Eunan's, Aodh Ruadh, Naomh Conaill, Glenswilly, Gaoth Dobhair, Killybegs and St Michael's. That would see the quarter-finals as: Kilcar v St Michael's; St Eunan's v Killybegs; Aodh Ruadh v Gaoth Dobhair and Naomh Conaill v Glenswilly, with Cloughaneely, who are on a point, Glenfin avoiding the relegation play-offs.
