Naomh Padraig, Uisce Chaoin celebrate Junior B win
When the goal chances came Naomh Padraig, Uisce Chaoin took their percentage to win a very well contested Ladies Junior B decider against Aodh Ruadh at Monellan, Crossroads on Sunday.
Aodh Ruadh 4-9
N Padraig, Uisce Chaoin 6-10
The Aodh Ruadh girls went home with regrets because they had their chances with two great goal chances in the final minutes before Naomh Padraig closed out the game with a late penalty to win their first ever adult ladies title.
Naomh Padraig had probably more up front where Ava Walsh and Grace McColgan punished when the chances came while Burt import Niamh Wallace also played a big part in the win.
A big feature of the game was the straight line running of Lucy McGlynn for Aodh Ruadh, using her sprinting talent. The game had many twists and turns but for the most part Naomh Padraig held the upper hand.
The only time Aodh Ruadh had the lead was midway through the second half, when they enjoyed a two point advantage - 4-8 to 4-6 - but they would only add one point in the final quarter, despite having numerous chances.
Naomh Padraig started both halves well, lead 1-2 to 0-1 after eight minutes, the goal from Ava Walsh after two minutes. A second goal from Corragh Canning on 13 minutes had the winners six points ahead but Aodh Ruadh fought back with a goal from Lauren Foy.
Ava Walsh put daylight between the teams again with another goal but by half-time Aodh Ruadh were just a point adrift - 3-4 to 2-6 - thanks to a goal from Kate Cunningham and a Katie O'Brien free. The Ballyshannon girls also hit a post twice in that half.

Again at the start of the second Naomh Padraig struck 1-2 in two minutes, the goal from Niamh Wallace and points from Megan Havlin and Dayna Molloy.
But Aodh Ruadh were back in the game when Sara Daly won a penalty and Kate Cunningham converted. They followed it with a Lucy McGlynn point and a fourth goal from Lauren Foy before Daly put them two points in front.
Naomh Padraig needed a response and it came from Grace McColgan (free), Niamh Wallace and Ava Walsh before McColgan bagged a fifth goal to put daylight between the teams again.
But in an exciting finish there were three Aodh Ruadh goal chances which went abegging before Walsh won a penalty for Grace McColgan to seal the win with the last kick of the game.
