Dublin ladies boss Mick Bohan will be present at the 'Coaching for Creeslough' event to be held later this month.

Dublin ladies football boss Mick Bohan will be part of the ‘Coaching For Creeslough’ event later this month which will raise money for the Creeslough Tragedy Fund.

The event is being hosted by Donegal LGFA and the St Michael’s GAA club on Saturday, November 26 at The Bridge in Dunfanaghy.

Ten people, including three children, were killed in last month’s tragic explosion at the local service station in Creeslough.

And a massive fundraising campaign began almost immediately and this event will also raise funds for the cause.

“I’m involved in a coach development initiative with the Dublin county board,” Bohan explained. “Maxi Curran had got in touch about a year ago and invited me up to Donegal.

“For one reason or another, and with things only edging back the other way post the Covid pandemic, it just didn’t happen. But a few weeks after the tragic events in Creeslough, we talked again and I just said, yeah, let’s see can we help out in our own small way.

“The fact that it’s taking place up there at the local St Michael’s GAA club, I think that’s quite fitting and poignant. Because I’ve read and seen so much in relation to the role they played immediately after. And that’s what the GAA really stands for.

“We go at it as hard as we can on the field, but it’s how we come together off it, that’s the really special thing about our association.

“We’re delighted to be able to do this small, little thing because I simply cannot begin to imagine what that community is going through.”

Mickey Moran led Down’s Kilcoo to the All-Ireland senior club glory last year and he, alongside former Clare Ladies manager Evan Talty, will also feature over the course of the day.

Bohan explained: “Evan is a friend of mine and I’m delighted we have him on board. Mickey is also coming up and hey, what a guy and what a legend. He’ll be looking at small sided games and how they increase players’ skill capacities. So there’s a lot to look forward to in that sense.”

The cost of registration is €50 and you can register here:

Moran, of course, managed Donegal in 2001 and 2002, taking them to an All-Ireland quarter-final in his second year.

He will conduct a session on the day from 11.30am-1pm called ‘The power of conditioned and small-sided games’.

Lunch from 1-2pm will be provided by Yes Chef Catering before a second session from 2-5pm, entitled ‘Making the coach the best version of themselves’ will be conducted by coaches Mick Mohan and Evan Talty, the founder of iGAACoach.
