Donegal well represented in DCU Intermediate League success

Donegal had five lads involved in DCU’s 1-11 to 0-9 Intermediate League final win over TUD.

St Eunan’s Peter McEniff started at right wing half-back for the side while Killybegs’ Cillian Gildea was positioned in the same line but on the opposite flank.

Donegal also had three players on the bench for the side in St Michael’s Oisin Cannon, Downings’ Johnny McGroddy and St Eunan’s Padraig McGettigan.

DCU had found themselves five down at one stage but battled back admirably in the second-half to prevail by five.

"It took us a little while to get going," said McEniff. "It was frustrating in the first-half. We clocked up around nine or ten wides. In college football, you have that little bit more space so it was kind of back and forth. It was so open. But we came good in the end."

On that healthy Donegal representation, he added: "It was nice to get the first bit of silverware of the season. It was actually my first game back since I broke the hand against Kilcar in the club championship. We've a good group of Donegal lads involved there as well and that's always nice".
