The mother of three initially got involved in politics because “I couldn’t sit back anymore and watch the rich and poor divide grow bigger all the time”, also declaring her concern for the environmental crises, and how no real measures have been put in place in an attempt to reverse it.
The voluntary youth worker’s main priorities include building social, affordable and purpose-built houses on a large scale across the region, a nationwide rent freeze, introduction of a living wage, introducing a public system of childcare, and attract sustainable jobs and investment across the Northwest, bringing about more balanced development across the country.
She said, “Leitrim should be a fantastic place to live, work, raise a family. The neglect shown to the region means we are not achieving our potential.
“The current system isn't working. Labour has a plan to change this.”
