General Election: Blaithín Gallagher eliminated in Sligo Leitrim  - Donegal

The count is continuing in the Clayton Hotel

Counting resumed at 9am in the Sligo Leitrim / South Donegal General Election count centre in the Clayton Hotel.

Count 2 results were announed at 9.40am. With no candidate having reached the quota of 11,381, Green Party candidate Bláithín Gallagher has been eliminated.

Frank Feighan received 24 transfers from the elimination of Molly Condon (The Party For Animal Welfare), Diarmuid McConville (Ind) and Caroline Corcoran (Independent Ireland), bringing his total to 9,004. Martin Kenny picked up 30, bringing him to 7,794. 

Michael Clarke (Independent Ireland) is sitting in third position, with 54 transfers taking him to 6,033, just ahead of Fianna Fáil's Eamon Scanlon who picked up 13 transfers to bring him to 5,920. Scanlon is widely expected to take the third seat.

Currently sitting in fifth position is Sinn Féin's Chris MacManus, who picked up 27 votes to bring him to 5,200 and keep him very much in the running. 

Next in the standings after count 2 is Dr Edel McSharry, with 20 transfers bringing her to 4,486, followed by Independent TD Marian Harkin, whose total is 4,387 helped by 31 transfers. McSharry's party colleague Paddy O'Rourke is next on 4,078, having received 10 transfers.

Independent candidate Marie Casserly is in ninth position, with 75 transfers having brought her total to 2,494. She is followed by Labour's Nessa Cosgrove who picked up 63 transfers to bring her to 2,149.

People Before Profit-Solidarity candidate Gino O'Boyle picked up 65 to move his total to 1,722, with Aontú's Graham Monaghan being him on 1,126 with 14 transfers. 

Des Guckian is in 13th place with 22 transfers having brought him to 909, and he is likely to be eliminated in the next count.
