Live Updates: The latest from Sligo-Leitrim / South Donegal count centre

The Sligo Leitrim / South Donegal constituency count is underway in the Clayton Hotel

Counting is underway for the Sligo - Leitrim constituency which includes part of south Donegal. Refresh your browser regularly for the latest updates as the count unfolds and the winners of the four seats are revealed

12.40am: It's all over in Sligo Leitrim South Donegal as Eamon Scanlon (FF) and Marian Harkin (Ind) take the last two seats without reaching the quota in Count 13. Michael Clarke finished in fifth place, just missing out on a seat. He secured 9,287 votes, with Harkin on 10,168 and Scanlon on 10,285

10.45pm: Sinn Féin's Martin Kenny takes the second seat in the Sligo Leitrim south Donegal constituency, having having received 5,215 transfers from eliminated party colleague Chris Mac Manus, bringing his total to 15,433. His surplus of 4,052 is being distributed.

8.45pm: Count 11 has also brought a huge shake up in the standings of the remaining candidates. Michael Clarke has dropped to fifth with 396 transfers bringing him up to 7,969. As expected, Eamon Scanlon benifited the most from his party colleagues transfers, taking 2,428 to place him in a strong third, with 9,740. He sits just behind Martin Kenny (SF), who gained 271 from transfers to bring him to a total of 10,218. With 1,163 needed to reach the quota, and his party colleague's votes being distributed, Kenny may well be elected in the next count

8.40pm: Frank Feighan (FG) is the first TD elected in the Sligo Leitrim south Donegal count, with 12,241 votes. His surplus of 816 was not enough to materially affect the count, therefore returning officer Paraic O'Grady announced the elimination of Chris MacManus (SF). His 6,932 votes will be distributed.

6.20pm: Dr Edel McSharry has been eliminated, with 6,062 votes to be distributed. It is expected that at least one candidate will be elected in the next count

6.15pm: Count 10 is complete with no candidate reaching the quota. Frank Feighan on 11,064 is only 317 from the 11,381 quota, followed by Martin Kenny on 9,947 after he picked up 1,020 of Paddy O'Rourke's transfers. Michael Clarke is holding on to third with 7,537, having taken 276 of O'Rourke's transfers. Eamon Scanlon is back in fourth position, with 7,312 including 977 transfers. Marian Harkin is hot on his heels with 354 transfers bringing her up to 7,145. Chris MacManus is also still in the mix. He picked up 51 transfers to bring his total after count 10 to 6,698.

5pm: Count 9 has shaken things up a bit in the Sligo-Leitrim south Donegal count centre, with Marian Harkin moving into fourth place in the four-seat constituency ahead of Sinn Féin's Chris MacManus. However, with no-one reaching the quota and with one of three Fianna Fáil candidates now eliminated, the higher number of transfers in the remaining counts will play a huge role in determining the final seat allocation. Paddy O'Rourke's 4,406 votes will now be distributed. 
Frank Feighan has edged a little closer to the quota. He picked up 473 of Marie Casserly's transfers to bring him to 10,216, with a further 1,165 needed if he is to reach the quota.

3.20pm: Marie Casserly has been eliminated, with 3,480 votes to be distributed

3.15pm: Chris MacManus (SF) pulls into fourth position ahead of Fianna Fáil's Eamon Scanlon following Count 8. However, Scanlon is expected to pick up a significant number of tranfers with the expected elimination of his party colleagues in coming counts. Frank Fieghan remains at the head of the pack, though he is still 1,638 off the quota. He is sitting on 9,743 having picked up 426 transfers from Nessa Cosgrove. Martin Kenny is on 8,717, having picked up 286 transfers, with Michael CLarke on 6,879, haven taken only 94 transfers. MacManus has 6,369 (327 transfers) and Scanlon is on 6,137 (78 transfers)

2.05pm: Returning Offier Paraic O'Grady announced the elimination of Labour's Nessa Cosgrove, with 2,846 votes to be distributed

2.00pm: The results of Count 7 have been announced, with no candidate reaching the quota. The standings remain unchanged, with Frank Feighan on 9,317 (39 transfers), Martin Kenny on 8,431 (258 transfers), Michael Clarke on 6,785 (88 transfers), Eamon Scanlon on 6,059 (32 transfers) and Chris MacManus close behind on 6,042, having picked up 655 transfers from Gino O'Boyle.

1.00pm: Gino O'Boyle of People Before Profit-Solidarity is eliminated, with 1,954 votes to be distributed.

12.55pm: Count 6 results are announced, with no candidate anywhere near the quota so far. The standings are the same as after Count 5, with Marian Harkin again transferring much better than Dr Edel McSharry. Frank Feighan picked up 65 transfers from Aontu's Graham Monaghan, bringing him to 9,278. Martin Kenny took 117 transfers to bring his total to 8,173. Michael Clarke is in a strong position in third, with 367 transfers bringing him to 6,697. Eamon Scanlon picked up 62 to bring his total so far to 6,027, followed by Chris McManus on 5,837, having taken 111 of Monaghan's transfers.

12.05pm: Marian Harkin on 4,678 moves ahead of Dr Edel McSharry on 4,560 for the first time as Count 5 results are announcced. Feighan remains in front on 9,213, having pickedup 110 transfers. Martin Kenny is still in second on 8,056, having received 189 of Michael Kelly's transfers. Michael Clarke is in third on 6,330, taking 117 transfers. He is followed by Eamon Scanlon on 5,965, including 13 transfers, and Chris MacManus on 5,276, with 17 transfers

11.18am: Count 4 count results announced, with Feighan still the front runner, picking up 13 transfers to bring him to 9,103. He remains 2,278 off the quota. Martin Kenny remains in second position on 7,867, having picked up 28 transfers, with Michael Clarke (Ind Ireland) taking 174 transfers to bring him to 6,213, followed by Eamon Scanlon (FF), who picked up 10 transfers to bring his total to 5,952

10.35am: With no candidate reaching the quota, Irish Freedom Party candidate Michael Kelly is eliminated and his 810 votes are being distributed

10.30am: Returning Officer Paraic O'Grady announces the results of Count 3. Frank Feighan picked up 86 votes, bringing him up to 9,090. Martin Kenny is in second spot on 7,839, having picked up 45 votes

9.45am: As no candidated reached the quota, the Green Party's Bláithín Gallagher is eliminated on count 2 with a total of 782 votes to be distributed

9.40am: Count 2 results are announced. Frank Feighan receives 24 transfers, bringing his total to 9,004. Martin Kenny picks up 30, bringing him to 7,794. 

Sunday 9.00am Counting resumes

12.10am: As expected from the tallies, Frank Feighan (FG) received the highest number of first preference votes, with a total of 8,980. He is followed closely by Martin Kenny (SF) of 7,764, with Michael Clarke (Independent Ireland) of 5,979, Eamon Scanlon (FF) on 5,913 and Chris MacManus (SF) on 5,173. 

12.10am: With no-one reaching the quota, three candidates are eliminated: Diarmuid MacConville (Ind) on 64 votes, Caroline Corcorane (Ind Ireland) on 69, and Molly Candon (The Party For Animal Welfare) on 423.

12.05am: The first count is finally announced. Total Electorate is 94,040; Total Vote 57,316; Spoiled Vote 416; Valid Vote 56,900; Quota 11,381

11.55pm: There is still no announcement on the first count, with mixed messages on whether it will be announced at all this evening

9.57pm: Further examination of doubtful votes is taking place

9.30pm: First count results have been delayed

8.30pm: The candidates are gathering in the Clayton Hotel count centre with a first count expected by around 9pm

7.31pm: Examination of doubtful votes is taking place, with first count results expected shortly

4pm: The first count is well underway in the count centre at the Clayton Hotel, with results not expected until well into the evening

1.40pm: Early indications are that newcomer Michael Clarke is in line for a seat, sitting in third place with a tally of 5,938, having taken 202 votes in south Donegal

1.35pm: Last time round Sinn Féin's Martin Kenny topped the poll and was elected on the first count. He is in second after the tallies, on 7,733. Kenny was the first choice for south Donegal voters, with 1,215 in that part of the constituency

1.30pm: Tallies show Fine Gael's Frank Feighan as the overall front runner, with 8,947. He has a tally of 619 from the Donegal portion of the constituency, behind Sinn Féin's Martin Kenny
