The newcomer is holding on to third position after six counts, and is transferring well

General Election: Clarke in a strong third at Sligo Leitrim south Donegal  count

It is still all to play for in the Sligo Leitrim constituency which takes in a portion of south Donegal, with no-one elected after six counts.

There is no change at the top in the General Election sixth count, and the front runners are edging very slowly towards the quota. Frank Feighan remains in front on 9,278, having taken 65 of eliminated candidate Graham Monaghan's transfers.

Martin Kenny remains in second place, with 117 transfers bringing him to 8,173.

Newcomer Michael Clarke has made quite an impression, having run a strong campaign right across the constitueny. He has been transfer-friendly so far, taking 367 in the last count to bring him to 6,697, ahead of Eamon Scanlon, who is expected to take one of the four seats. He is currently on 6,027, having picked up 62 transfers. 

Hot on his heels is former MEP Chris MacManus who is hoping to take a second Sinn Féin seat in the constituency. He has 4,950 votes, having taken 111 of Monaghan's transfers.

Marian Harkin is closing the gap on the front runners. She picked up 272 transfers to bring her to 4,950, ahead of Dr Edel McSharry on 4,602 with 42 transfers, and Paddy O'Rourke on 4,310 with 38 transfers.

Gino O'Boyle was eliminated, and his 1,954 votes are being distributed.
