Jason McGee expressed his delight that Seán McMurrough was able to join the Donegal panel as mascot for the Ulster SFC final.

Seán’s sister Enya, 13, from Gortahork and a student at McGee’s old school, PCC Falcarragh, sadly passed away in February, and was a keen supporter of the Donegal GAA team, having met with the panel last April.

Seán led the Donegal team out in Clones on Saturday evening, alongside captain Patrick McBrearty and watched on as the side managed by Jim McGuinness won memorably, 2-23 to 0-28, against Armagh after extra-time.

"A brilliant occasion,” McGee said of the final afterwards. “We had Seán in there a few months ago. He came in and met the side. It was a very tough time for him and his family. And it was just brilliant to be able to take Seán and his family to the Ulster final here and get over the line for them. We wish them all the best."

Cloughaneely GAA club, on Fright night, expressed their pride in Seán being the mascot at St Tiernach’s Park.

“It will be a proud day for the club tomorrow when our underage player, Seán McMurrough, will be a mascot for the Donegal senior team in Clones for the Ulster final against Armagh,” they posted. “It will be an honour for Seán, his family and us as a club, and we are all very proud of him and hope that he has a great day tomorrow. Maith thú a Sheáin.”
