'There's outrage in west Donegal as Irish Water refuses to send water Tankers as requested,' Cllr McClafferty posted

A Donegal county councillor has hit out at Uisce Éireann for failing to provide water relief during the hot spell, saying parts of the county are "faced with a drought" and that livestock wil die.

Cllr Michael McClafferty of the Glenties MD made the request to the national water utility with temperatures around the 30c mark, only to learn there is a timeframe that needs to be adhered to.

"There's outrage in west Donegal as Irish Water refuses to send water Tankers as requested," Cllr McClafferty posted. "[They're] stating now that a business must be without water for at least 24 hours before they would even consider it. There are newborn babies in the Glenties area as well as plenty of elderly and the sick.

"This is discrimination at its best on us in Donegal, and we’re not standing for it. We have cows and sheep horses without water worth thousands of euros. Basically, Irish Water is saying let them die if they're not going to send tankers. This is what we’re faced with - a drought."
