Maghery Fife and Drum Band win ninth All-Ireland Title in a row

The Maghery Fife and Drum Band has once again etched its name into the history books by securing its ninth consecutive All-Ireland title.

This unprecedented success cements their position as one of the most celebrated marching bands in Ireland, admired not just for their musical talent but for their community spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence.

Founded in the small village of Maghery, the band has a rich heritage that dates back generations. Over the years, it has grown from a small local group into a national powerhouse, consistently raising the bar in performance, precision, and presentation. Their ninth win, achieved at the 2025 All-Ireland Fleadh in Wexford, was met with thunderous applause, emotional celebrations, and overwhelming pride from supporters near and far.

The All-Ireland Fleadh is the pinnacle of traditional Irish music and performance, attracting the very best bands from across the island. Each group brings its own style and strengths, but Maghery has continued to stand out—thanks to its sharp discipline, tight musical arrangements, and unique blend of traditional and modern marching techniques.

‘’This isn’t just about winning. It’s about pride in our community, pride in our heritage, and pride in each other. Every single member of this band, from the youngest fifer to the oldest drummer, gives their all every week. We’ve built something special here—and to win nine in a row is a dream come true.”

Training for a band of this calibre is intense. Members practice multiple times per week, often braving rain, wind, and long hours to perfect their routines. The band is made up of people of all ages—some following in the footsteps of parents and grandparents, others new recruits who’ve grown up watching the band march through the streets of Maghery during parades and festivals. The sense of legacy is strong, and it’s this intergenerational connection that helps fuel their ongoing success.

The 2025 performance, which clinched their ninth title, featured a flawless medley of traditional music, tight marching formations, and precise drumming. Audience members described it as “You don’t just hear the Maghery Band—you feel them.”

Looking ahead, the band shows no signs of slowing down. Already, talk of going for a historic tenth title has begun, and with the unwavering support of the Maghery community behind them, few would bet against it.

The band have once again been scouted for the prestigious Tattoo and will headline there again in September 2026. In a world that often moves too fast, the Maghery Fife and Drum Band reminds us of the enduring power of tradition, teamwork, and music to bring people together. Their nine-in-a-row victory is more than just a win—it’s a symbol of unity, pride, and excellence.

Following a celebratory performance through the streets of Wexford on Sunday and a night of celebration in Portlaoise, the band’s homecoming was celebrated in Maghery last night.

The village was a buzz with the champion's return and a huge sense of pride filled the warm evening air. As the Maghery band takes a well-deserved short break, the excitement in the air is palpable. With their sights set on securing a historic 10th All-Ireland title, the players recharge, readying themselves for intense training ahead. Every moment counts as they prepare to make history once again!
