Taidgh Trocme has completed an incredible 390km walk to Dublin for Arranmore RNLI.

The 18-year-old set off on a solo journey from his home in Arranmore to Dún Laoghaire lifeboat station on August 5. He arrived at his destination on Sunday evening.

On the final day, Taidgh completed 54,980 steps and 35km.

“I decided to use this opportunity to fundraise for the RNLI as they are a core part of my local community and have a rich and proud history on the island,” said Taidgh.

He shared that he got about three hours of sleep on the last night, which made the final day harder.

“Ultimately it turned out okay,” said Taidgh. “Made it out of the field without getting chased by cows. Made it into the city with plenty of time to spare.

“The Dún Laoghaire lifeboat team gave me such a warm welcome at the station, so thank you so much to all of them. It was a wonderful adventure but I'm glad it's over, and I cannot wait to rest in my own bed.

“Thank you so so much to everyone who donated and followed along, because of you we managed to reach 300 per cent of the donation goal raising just over €1,500. I will leave the donation page open for a week or so, just in case anyone who wants to has yet to donate.”
