Local councillor Brian Carr is delighted with the new arrival, having made an approach for the car alongside Sinn Féin party colleague, Deputy Pearse Doherty.

"A brand new squad car arrived just in time for Christmas, the first in Glenties since 2015," Cllr Carr posted. "I met Garda Ciaran Cassidy on duty in town and got my first photo of this brand new fully electric Skoda Enyaq, with proper lights and markings.
"Pearse Doherty raised these concerns directly with the new Garda Commissioner, Justin Kelly, at the Oireachtas Committee on Justice. This new squad car is the direct result of that meeting and is the first step in addressing those concerns. We’re absolutely delighted. Glenties now has a proper squad car, capable of attending accidents."
