Gritters have been out from 2pm on and they aim to sort all Donegal Winter Maintenance designated gritting routes
Donegal County Council has warned that it may not be able to grit some of its planned routes this evening due to the cold weather.
“Freezing Rain is predicted all day today and tonight until 11 am tomorrow," the council said. "Some of the gritting routes could become very treacherous and may not be able to be treated in the morning. The council will endeavour to treat as many routes as possible if safe to do so. The public are advised to take extreme care, particularly overnight and tomorrow morning. Freezing rain occurs when rain hits a frozen surface and freezes on impact, causing very slippy surfaces similar to black ice and is not very common."
