Defendant pleaded guilty to Letterkenny offence dating back to 2018
An East Donegal man has pleaded guilty to a hijacking car offence in Letterkenny at Letterkenny Circuit Court.
Jonathan Glenn, 43, of Beltany, Raphoe, was before Judge John Aylmer at Letterkenny Courthouse, where he heard the count against him.
The defendant pleaded guilty that on January 14, 2018, at LIDL, Port Road, Letterkenny, did unlawfully seized by force a vehicle, to wit, a silver Ford Mondeo, at which time was being driven by a woman, contrary to Section 10 of the Criminal Law Jurisdiction Act 1976.
Barrister for the defendant, Peter Nolan BL, told Judge Aylmer: “The position is that the only application I have is a probation welfare report, which I think will be of importance. He has one previous conviction in the North of Ireland.”
Mr Nolan also told the court that a psychiatric report was handed in which confirmed that Glenn was capable of instructing his legal team.
Judge Aylmer replied: “In those circumstances, I think the Probation Report will certainly be of assistance.”
He adjourned sentencing until the next session of Letterkenny Circuit Court and remanded Glenn in custody.
