Katie McClafferty was chosen at the selection event held in Gracie’s Bar, Sligo

The 2026 Connacht representative has been selected for the Mary from Dungloe International Arts Festival. 

Katie McClafferty was chosen at the selection event held in Gracie’s Bar, Sligo. “Delighted to have been chosen as this year's Connacht Mary for the 2026 Mary From Dungloe International Arts Festival,” Katie said. “A very special festival that holds a special place in my heart. Can’t wait for the summer.” 

Katie will be the second lady to represent Connacht at the festival, as Caragh Ryan was the first during the 58th Mary from Dungloe.

The Mary’s selected so far are Eva O’Sullivan representing London. Shauna McDonagh as the 2026 Dungloe Mary, Gracie Trimble will wear the Wild Atlantic Way sash and Rhiana Wasson will represent the county as the Donegal Mary.

Organisers are seeking a New York Mary with the selection taking place on Monday, March 16 at The Taylor Public House, 505  NYC. The 2026 Gaeltacht Mary selection will take place on Saturday, March 21, in the Waterfront Hotel, Dungloe. For the 2026 Midlands Mary, the selection will take place at the Cavan Crystal Hotel on Friday, March 27, at 7pm.

Last year, fifteen ladies were selected and Dungloe Mary Ellie Ward was crowned Mary from Dungloe at the annual Crowning Cabaret. This year’s festival is scheduled to take place from Saturday, July 25, to Monday, August 3.
