The road stretching from Creeslough to Glenveagh National Park is surrounded by the Derryveagh Mountains
Funding previously allocated to Owencarrow has been reallocated to roads.
A total of €20,000 funding was allocated through the Minor Tourism Related Works Grant Scheme in 2023 for works at Owencarrow. However, as the works couldn’t go ahead, the funding has been reallocated to the road between Creeslough and Glenveagh.
The decision to reallocate was approved at the Genties Municipal District meeting by Cathaoirleach and Independent Councillor Michael McClafferty, and seconded by Fianna Fáil Councillor Anthony Molloy.

The Minor Tourism grant, which funded improvements to signage, scenic places, picnic areas, and beaches, is no longer available to Donegal County Council.
Sinn Féin Councillor Brian Carr described the funding cut as a “big loss” and stated that “it has to come back”.
