A ferry terminal building, harbour master office, ferry ticket offices, office space, meeting rooms, changing facility, an enterprise unit, and retail space will be available upon completion
Works to redevelop Burtonport Harbour are due to be completed by July.
The construction works were due to be completed earlier; however, a new ESB substation caused delays with electricity connections. The ongoing works are estimated to be completed in July 2026.
Upon completion, it will include a ferry terminal building, harbour master office, ferry ticket offices, office space, meeting rooms, changing facility, an enterprise unit, and retail space.

Funded by the Rural Regeneration Development Fund and Donegal County Council, the works will cost a total of €3,796,000. The regeneration fund is supplying 75% of the funding for this project.
Independent Councillor Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig welcomed the news but highlighted that, “projects should be advanced. We need more of a focus on the islands and quays.”
