Four Donegal golf clubs have linked together for 2024 to offer more advantages and value to their club members.

The golf clubs at Cruit Island, Gaoth Dobhair, Cloughaneely and Dunfanaghy have established a special reciprocal agreement whereby their members may play at the neighbouring clubs for a reduced rate all year round.

It offers great value with entry into open competitions or for green fees at the respective clubs being made available at €15 per person.

Alan Gillespie, Honorary Secretary at Cruit Island GC said ‘This is a superb opportunity to play other courses for excellent value. Cruit Island Golf Club are delighted to be included again.’

Cruit Island Golf Club is a 9-hole links course that offers stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding rugged landscape. The golf course is a popular destination for golfers from Donegal, and in recent years has become a firm favourite of golfers from all around the world.

Gweedore Golf Club offers great value with unrestricted panoramic views of some of Ireland’s most picturesque and unspoiled beaches. The club also has an active social aspect, hosting a good number of competitions and events throughout the year. The golf course was founded in 1923 and celebrate their Centenary last year.

“It’s nice to have so many excellent courses on our doorstep here in Donegal and I’m delighted to be able to play at these other golf courses for a reduced fee,” said Lorcán Mulligan, Club Member from Gweedore Golf Club.

Dunfanaghy Golf Club is an 18-hole links Par 68 Course. There are exciting plans for the redesign of some of the holes at the eastern end of the course by Paul McGinley Golf Design in the future. The golf course offers an enjoyable challenge for golfers of every ability with spectacular views of Killahoey Beach, Sheephaven Bay and the harbour of Portnablagh.

‘Dunfanaghy Golf Club are very happy to renew a link with Cruit Island, Gweedore and Cloughaneely to offer all our members a good deal in 2024,’ said Sean Quinn, Club Captain at Dunfanaghy Golf Club.

Seán Ó Gallchóir, Club Secretary at Cloughaneely Golf Club commented: ‘We are delighted to continue to offer extra benefits to our club members. It is very important to strengthen and develop links with our neighbouring clubs and establishing this special reciprocal agreement will be of advantage to all the golf clubs this year and beyond. It is also great to offer good value locally for golf, especially in these difficult financial times’.

Cloughaneely Golf Club is a 9-hole parkland course located near Falcarragh. It is very popular with visitors and groups and offers excellent value and a warm welcome. The golf course is nestled between the Derryveagh Mountains and the Atlantic Ocean with magnificent views of Horn Head and the islands.
