Myles Sweeney is the new captain of the Donegal ETB Golf Society, following their AGM.

Outgoing Captain Elaine Russell expressed sincere thanks to Cathal McGee for the nomination and to all the Society members for their support and companionship during each outing.

Elaine also expressed her satisfaction that, despite the unfavourable weather, we managed to have seven different outings throughout the year, playing at some of the most scenic golf courses in the county.

Elaine’s final act was to welcome Myles as the new Captain for the coming year and wished him good luck and assured him of her continued support throughout his Captaincy.

Incoming Captain Myles said he is very honoured to serve as Captain of the Donegal ETB Golf Society and wished to sincerely thank outgoing Captain Elaine for the nomination and congratulated her on a wonderful year as Captain, “truly a hard act to follow”.

He also thanked Breid Kelly for accepting the invitation as Vice-Captain. Breid has been a stalwart of the Society and is a committed member for many years.

He also thanked the Golf Society Committee for all their dedication over many years in ensuring that we all enjoy golf in many of the county’s finest golf courses. We are truly blessed to have such a committed team of officials to ensure the Society functions at a high level.

He encouraged the Staff of Donegal ETB, their spouses/partners, Board Members of ETB and of the various other Boards and Committees, to come along and actively participate in the season ahead. “Golf is a game that should be enjoyed and we encourage a positive and light-hearted atmosphere within the Society events.”

Myles also acknowledged Anne Mc Hugh, Chief Executive of Donegal ETB for her continued support of the Society.

Myles concluded that our first outing of the 2024/25 season begins on Saturday, September 7, in Letterkenny Golf Club and he hoped to see as many of the members there as possible.
