Buncrana Golf Club has launched a major fundraising initiative offering the chance to win a new car, with Donegal senior footballer Caolan McGonagle helping promote the draw.
The club has unveiled its ‘Drive It Home’ car draw, with the top prize a Hyundai i30 N-Line supplied by Diver’s Hyundai. The draw will run for 16 weeks, with the winning ticket set to be pulled from the hat on Saturday, 27 June.
McGonagle, who is a member of Buncrana Golf Club as well as Donegal's centre half back, joined club officials for the launch this week.
Organisers say the draw is aimed at raising funds to support the continued development of the club, including investment in youth programmes designed to encourage more young people to take up the sport.
The draw features a prize pool worth €43,500. As well as the car, the second prize is €5,000, with additional cash prizes for third, fourth and fifth place. Tickets are priced at one for €25, three for €50 and seven for €100.

Launching the draw, Buncrana Golf Club captain Liam Henderson said the club hopes the local community will get behind the fundraiser.
“The ‘Drive It Home’ initiative aims to raise funds to support the continued development of Buncrana Golf Club, with this year’s proceeds going directly towards youth development and encouraging more young people to get involved in the club,” he said.
“We're calling on our local community to support our ‘Drive It Home’ car draw. Come June, you could be the lucky winner of a new Hyundai i30 N-Line and literally drive it home! Your support will guarantee future generations access to excellent facilities, giving them the best opportunity to excel in their golf and bring even greater success to the club.”
Committee member and draw organiser Pius McFadden said the community-based club is proud of its role in making golf accessible to the wider community.
“Buncrana Golf Club is one of the oldest 9-hole links courses in Ireland and is proud to be a community golf club. The course is maintained to the highest standard and operates on a non-profit basis, providing an affordable golfing facility for the local community, the surrounding area and visitors,” he said. “The club is run on a voluntary basis by a dedicated committee of members, with membership fees kept as low as possible to make the game accessible to everyone.”

Mr McFadden added that the club has seen growing interest from younger players in recent years.
“In recent years we have also seen great interest from younger players, and supporting youth development has become a key priority. Investing in programmes and opportunities for young golfers will help nurture the next generation and ensure a strong and vibrant future for the club.”
Tickets are available online and from committee members.
