Cllr Michael McMahon wants more lights for Bundoran

Let there be lights ...in Bundoran!

Ongoing problems with the provision of public lighting in the Donegal Municipal District have forced one councillor to call for an immediate meeting with the regulator of Enerveo, the body now responsible for their provision.

Cllr Michael McMahon raised the issue at the recent municipal district meeting when he heard one percent of the 19,000 lights in the country were not working.

"I don't think they have enough staff to do the work. I think to get a proper service we need to speak to the regulator at a full council or municipal district meeting. I want to know what the exact position is, how they do their work and the timescales involved.

He added it should also be stressed that any work done should be left in such a way that it did not interfere with any other body coming in to do additional work.

"We had a very serious situation at Main Street, Bundoran recently where it took five days to establish a connection. The road had to be dug up on each side. That's not good workmanship,” he said

The meeting heard the matter would be investigated.
