The Diamond, Raphoe one of the areas receiving attention form the council work
Ongoing work in Raphoe has to meet a May deadline, Lifford-Stranorlar Municipal District councillors were told at their recent meeting.
The news came in a report on the ongoing work on the Raphoe Town and Village Renewal Scheme which is due to deliver among other things the development of a greenway/walkway, new signage, car park improvements and information bubs
Councillors were told that Donegal County Council is currently discussing with a local committee to set a plan and project delivery timelines.
They also heard that the group has procured an architect/designer to progress the design and to prepare tender documents for a number of elements of the scheme.
Repair work on a wall at the Church of Ireland and Raphoe Congregational Church had been completed as had refurbishment works at the Diamond,
A meeting was also due to take place with the council's planning department regarding windows
They were told that there is currently a tender running to upgrade the heating system in the Volt House and that a landscaping contractor has been appointed to complete works in the Diamond.
The meeting also welcomed the fact that an artist has been appointed to complete a mural of The Fair Day on the building adjacent to The Volt House but was reminded that work must be completed by next month, May as this is the final extension date.
