A man has appeared in court in connection with a serious assault in Castlefin.
Tristan McAteer was brought before Letterkenny District Court on Wednesday morning in connection with the incident.
McAteer, a 24-year-old whose address was given as Market Square, Castlefin, was charged with assaulting Lee Rowan causing him harm at Emmett Park, Castlefin between July 2 and July 3, 2023.
Evidence of the arrest, charge and caution was submitted by way of schedule.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that there could be more serious charges proffered on McAteer, pending direction from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham granted bail in McAteer’s own bond of €200, nil cash.
McAteer was ordered to stay out of Emmett Park, Castlefin and is to have no contact in any way, either directly or indirectly, with the alleged victim or any witnesses in the case. McAteer is to provide Gardai with a telephone number and be contactable at all times.
The case was adjourned until September 18.
