The new mural showing a train arriving at the former railway station
Do you know anyone who may have travelled to Convoy on the rail line between Strabane and Letterkenny? Do you, have photographs, or memorabilia like train tickets or photographs of the train or train station?
If you do you can help the Convoy Community Environmental Committee. They are currently trying to piece together items from that era and are appealing to locals or indeed anyone who might have any information.
It's to help with the celebrations to mark the arrival of a new mural in the village. Marty McDaid's work depicting the train arriving at the local station looks spectacular and certainly will rekindle memories for those who remember the railway.
The station opened on January 1, 1909 when the County Donegal Railways Joint Committee built the Strabane and Letterkenny Railway from Strabane to Letterkenny. It closed on 1 January 1960
The committee is hoping to have an official unveiling but would like to display items that connect the train to the village too.
"Maybe local people family or friends who emigrated might have some photos.
Please get in touch with our Convoy Community Environmental Committee Facebook page. Simply take a photo of your photograph etc and send it to us. We're all looking forward to what turns up," a spokesperson said.
