The bollards at Dungloe pier that were painted over
There's anger in Dungloe town this morning at the news that 'mindless vandals' have interfered with 100-year-old granite bollards at the local pier.
A spokesperson for the local Forbairt Na Rosann group expressed dismay at the action.
"Could the mindless vandals who decided to paint the bollards on the Dungloe pier please return as sneakily as they came and restore them to their original state?
"These granite bollards were placed on the pier 100 years ago this year, they have stood untouched from 1923 - 2023 and would have been handcrafted using only basic tools.
"This pier is now part of our National Heritage and should be preserved as a monument in time!"
