An uninsured Lifford man has been handed a driving ban after being caught speeding.
Gardai were performing a speed check at Magherabuoy on the N14 at 1.46am on September 22, 2022 when they intercepted a white Jaguar XF, which was travelling at 121km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Gardai stopped the vehicle and the driver identified himself as Martin O’Donnell, a 41-year-old from Ballybogan, Lifford.
Garda Stephen Joseph Carroll of the Letterkenny Roads Policing Unit told Letterkenny District Court that O’Donnell was not in possession of a licence or insurance on the night in question, but undertook to produce his documents.
A fixed charge penalty notice was issued, but was unpaid and documents were not produced, Garda Carroll said.
Sergeant Gerard Dalton confirmed that O’Donnell has no previous convictions.
For driving without insurance, O’Donnell was disqualified from driving for two years by Judge Ciaran Liddy and fined €100, with three months to pay. O’Donnell was also fined €100 in respect of a speeding charge with other road traffic charges marked as taken into consideration by Judge Liddy.
