Aiden Thompson is raising money for defibrillators
A registered paramedic has started a GoFundMe to help save lives in Ballybofey and Stranorlar.
Aiden Thompson is fundraising to install defibrillators for public access in the Twin Towns of Ballybofey and Stranorlar.
Aiden is a PHECC (Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council) registered paramedic and an approved Irish Heart Foundation training site coordinator. He has been a registered paramedic and first aid instructor for the past 20 years.
Aiden has previously worked in the Coast Guard and completed many rescues in treacherous situations and conditions, therefore he has ample experience dealing with both trauma and life-threatening medical emergencies.
“Every day in Ireland, 12–15 people will go into cardiac arrest outside of the hospital, and the sooner we recognise this event and commence CPR while someone else gets a defibrillator to the casualty, the greater the chances of survival,” was posted on the GoFundMe. “By having publicly accessible defibrillators, we can try to keep a casualty alive while the emergency services are on their way.”
