A Moderate Yellow Weather Warning for low-temperature has been issued for Donegal
The alert is in place from this morning, Thursday, at 9am to 12 noon tomorrow, Friday.
Thursday will be another bitterly cold day with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers of rain, sleet and snow. Showers will be most frequent across northern fringes. Frost and ice in places too. Highs of just 2 to 5 degrees, in mostly light northwesterly winds, fresher near coasts, with brisk winds feeding inland later.
Tonight will be very cold with widespread frost and icy stretches. Scattered wintry showers will feed right in across the province, some heavy with further dustings of snow in parts. Lowest temperatures of -4 to +1 degrees in moderate to fresh northwesterly winds.
Friday will be mostly dry with spells of sunshine but there will be a few wintry showers starting out and some lying snow in parts. Highest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees in just light westerly breezes.
The alert message from Met Eireann says: “Very cold with widespread frost, icy stretches and lying snow persisting today, tonight and tomorrow. Possible impacts include hazardous conditions on roads and paths, with some travel disruption.”
