The Poor Farmers are closing in on €600,000 raised to date in 19 years of the event

The Ardara Poor Farmers Association handed over cheques to three very worthwhile causes at the weekend after their recent auction which raised €50,000.   

Representatives from Cancer Care West, Ardara Resource Centre and Palliative Care Nurses were present on Saturday night at the venue as they each received €16,500 each.

It means the total raised by the PFA over the years, following the 19th staging of the event is closing in on €600,000, with €523,149 having been gathered in the 18 years to date.

The auction, which was held in Teague’s Bar in late December, is one of the town’s most eagerly awaited events each year.
