Live Register figures in Donegal drop to lowest level
People on the Live Register in Donegal fell to the lowest figures available from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) in May 2025.
There were 7,454 people on the Live Register in Donegal in May 2025, down from 7,599 in April 2025.
The Live Register is used to provide a monthly series of the numbers of people, with some exceptions, registering for Jobseekers Benefit, Jobseekers Allowance, or for various other statutory entitlements at local offices of the Department of Social Protection.
In the one year from May 2024 until May 2025, there was a 10% drop in people on the Live Register, and a 24% drop in people from Donegal’s highest amount of people on the Live Register, in December 2022, when there were 9,824 people registered.

The vast majority of people who were on the Live Register were over the age of 25, of whom 6,711 people were on the register compared to 743 under the age of 25.
Men made the majority of Donegal’s Live Register than women, with 4,048 men listed compared to 3,406.
Nationally, there was a total of 162,269 people listed on the Live Register in May 2025, a decrease compared to April 2025 of 3.4%, but a rise from the 159,866 people listed on the Live Register in March 2025.
