€300,000 funding for Donegal under Local Enhancement Programme

Minister McConalogue has welcomed the funding.

Almost €300,000 is being allocated to 196 Donegal projects under the Local Enhancement Programme (LEP) 2025.

The Local Enhancement Programme 2025 was launched in November 2024, with funding of €7 million available nationally, which includes €1 million in current funding, to support local groups with ongoing running costs.

The funding also provides capital supports essential for the many small community groups and organisations, particularly those which serve disadvantaged areas in rural and urban areas. Almost 4,500 community organisations will receive funding, with a total of more than 5,400 individual projects funded.

Local Minister of State Charlie McConalogue has welcomed the €297,125 allocation for Donegal.

“This scheme provides small-scale funding for a wide range of costs, from minor renovations to IT equipment,” he said.

“Community groups and sporting organisations play a huge role in communities right across Donegal and I thank Donegal County Council and the Local Community Development Committee for their help in administering the funding,” Minister McConalogue added.

Meanwhile, the LEP money – which was announced by Minister for Rural and Community Development Dara Calleary – has also been welcomed by Pat the Cope Gallagher TD.

Deputy Gallagher said it will benefit a wide range of community organisations, clubs, men’s sheds, youth centres, and parish halls across Donegal.

“These groups provide essential services and help strengthen community ties,” he said.
