Gratitude for Ballybofey patrons as Barnes View Filling Station sold

The owners of Barnes View Filling Station told Donegal Live they would like to thank the local patrons in the Ballybofey area after selling the business to new owners.

The Maguire family, who have run the filling station on the N15 and TSA Tyres adjacent to the building for approximately 45 years, have sold the business and are closing up on June 30. 

Chris Maguire, who has been managing the business onsite since 2019, said the family would be sad to sell the business. He took the reins of the business when his brother, Pat Maguire, passed away.

He said: “The family was then in a quandary about what to do, as Pat was near ready to retire. The intention was always probably to sell it on, since Pat was going to retire.

“The family has come to the decision to put the place on the market, and it was eventually sold after a year on the market. The family would want the business to move on and move forward.”

Regarding the Maguire family’s gratitude to the local community, and the importance of Barnes View Filling Station to Ballybofey, Chris commented: “We would like to the opportunity to thank all our patrons through the years, both in the tyre business and the fuel business. A great thanks to them, as without them, the business wouldn’t have survived, so we are eternally grateful to the customers.

“It has been a real asset to the community, between the convenience of getting their tyres sorted in this building and getting fuel in the filling station. It would actually be one of the last attended filling stations in the county, attended that there are pump attendants where anywhere else, it is automatic.

“The family is sad enough to move on, but they have to move forward with it. I’d be sad to see it going too, but we have a lot of gratitude for the patrons over the years, and hopefully I’ll be able to see them in the future.”
