Waterford was named as the most liveable county in the country, with Wexford, Cork, and Clare making up the rest of the top five.

The Deise county was seen as one of the sunniest counties in the country, with reasonably priced housing, and its inhabitants have access to the facilities of Waterford City.

Ireland’s Liveability Index was scored by different categories, such as natural amenity, proximity to cities, sunshine, and cost of housing, which were averaged to arrive at the overall score for each county.

The index stated: “Few of us have unlimited financial resources with which to purchase our ideal home, therefore, the cost of housing is one of the most important factors to consider when planning your next move. There is considerable variation across the country.”
