Donegal County Council has granted planning permission for a multi-use commercial building in Manorcunningham, including a farm shop, café, and an outdoor gardening centre, which could provide up to 30 jobs.

Glenview Catering Ltd was successful in their application for planning permission for the site at Raymoghey, Manorcunningham, for the construction of a single-storey commercial building named Swilly View Farm Shop.

The commercial building is to include the use of a café and coffee dock seating area, an ice cream parlour, shared retail open floor space to include a garden centre, a farm shop, and provision to sell giftware and hardware, as well as an outdoor garden centre.

Facilities such as toilets, a staff room, storage, and an ancillary kitchen are included in the proposed development.

Glenview Catering Ltd said they were “positioned to become a destination for both locals and visitors alike,” focusing on “farm-to-fork principles, quality products, and exceptional service that will help build a loyal customer base and ensure the long-term success of the business.”

Customers would be allowed to see the cattle being milked, which would “increase consumer confidence by offering a transparent view of the milking process.”

Glenview Catering Ltd said “the business will employ 20-30 people across various departments, contributing to the local economy and community.”

Architects for the development, Cullinane Steele Architects, said they reduced the size of the proposals, following a meeting with the Donegal County Council Executive Planner in March 2025. Plans for a building floor area of 822.45m2 were reduced to 692.22m2

Donegal County Council granted planning permission for the project, with 25 conditions, including a condition for the applicant to pay a contribution of €3,517.34 in respect of public infrastructure
