Quay Street, Donegal Town
A Donegal Town resident was fined a total of €270 at the latest sitting of the Donegal District Court for driving a car without a valid NCT certificate and without paying tax.
Micheal Pivoda, 54, of 12 Oak Meadows, Donegal Town, Donegal, appeared at Ballyshannon Courthouse and pleaded guilty to the charges put before him.
The Court heard that Pivoda was fully cooperative with Gardaí and had no previous convictions.
On January 6, 2025, Pivoda used a car on Quay Street, Donegal Town, while a test certificate for the said vehicle was not in force at that time.
Judge Éiteáin Cunningham fined Pivoda €120 with five months to pay for the infringement of not having a legal NCT certificate.

The car in question also did not have fixed to and exhibited on the vehicle a licence which is both issued in respect of the said vehicle, and for the time being in force.
Judge Cunningham fined Pivoda €150 with five months to pay for driving the untaxed vehicle.
A separate charge of using a car that had not carried an Insurance Disc was taken into consideration by Judge Cunningham.
Pivoda told the Court: “I used the car for an emergency to the pharmacy. Even that, I should pay the tax.”
Judge Cunningham told Pivoda: “You can not drive a vehicle if you don’t have any appropriate documents.”
