Land being sold is being done so using commonage, a form of shared land ownership. Commonage refers to the rights held by multiple individuals to graze land, regardless of whether they own the underlying land.
At a height of 667 metres and a prominence of 142 metres, Muckish Mountain is the 80th highest mountain in Ireland (when judged with prominence), and the 14th highest in Ulster.
Known for its distinctive shape, for many years, a sand quarry was in use on the side of the mountain, of which its remnants remain on the mountain on the Miner’s Path, a popular route for hikers.
